Nitric Oxide Analyzer
In December 2004, AARCMC became one of a handful of
offices nationwide to utilize a a nitric oxide analyzer.
This sensitive diagnostic tool measures nitric oxide in
the human breath. Nitric Oxide is a molecule
associated with tissue inflammation experienced by
asthma sufferers. This test simply involves
exhaling into a device. Both children and adults
may benefit from this sophisticated diagnostic tool.
Oscillometry
AARCMC is one of the few respiratory centers around the
country to provide impedence oscillometry testing.
Oscillometry testing is a non-invasive effective method
for evaluating airway resistance. Using ultrasound
technology, the patient breathes normally into the
device and airway resistance is measured.
Impedence oscillometry is particularly diagnostic in
children 2-6 years of age who may have difficulty
complying with other types of diagnostic devices
including standard spirometry.
Rhinolaryngoscopy
AARCMC physicians perform diagnostic rhinoscopy for
symptoms of refractory nasal congestion. Laryngoscopy
is performed
for chronic hoarseness or symptoms of
chronic throat irritation. This highly diagnostic
procedure can often detect tumors. Surgical
problems which may be identified are referred out to
surgical specialists.
Clinical Research
Since 1997,
AARCMC physicians have been involved as principal or sub investigators
for Phase 1-4 clinical trials. These include over
100 asthma, allergic rhinitis, urticaria and atopic
dermatitis trials, with participation of over 1000
adults and children.
